New Blog Address

Hey everyone! As a 4th grade team, we decided to have a combined 4th grade blog so that we would all be on the same page. So I created a new blog at the following address:

kennedy4thgrade.blogspot.com

Head over there! You will get generic information in the regular posts, and I will put class specific information under the tab that says "Mrs. Call."

I would suggest going to that blog now and bookmarking that one, since I won't be using this one anymore. Thanks everyone!

Math Flash Cards

As a whole 4th grade, we really need to make sure we are practicing our multiplication facts. I have put a link on the right hand side that you can use as an online flash card resource. There are many online that you can find if you don't have a flash card deck of your own.

Red Shirt Friday, Field Day, Homecoming Parade

Hey everyone! We have a jam packed day tomorrow. First of all, it is Red Shirt Friday, so don't forget to wear your red shirts! It is also field day as well as the homecoming parade. Be sure to dress for the weather and to wear good walking shoes!

Also, the only homework the students have tonight is to read for 30 minutes and to study their math facts. In class we had a math test, a spelling test, and a reading end-of-course pretest. So I hope everyone gets a good brain break tonight!

Thanks for all your help. And thank you to the parents coming on our walking field trip tomorrow. I really appreciate all of you!

In Case You Didn't Get The Email...

Hello Everyone!

I am emailing you all because this Friday we have been invited to go to the homecoming parade. All of Kennedy Elementary will be walking with their classes from Kennedy over to the parade (most likely Porter Park) at 1:00 on Friday. We will get there at about 1:30, leave the parade at about 2:00, and get back to the school at 2:30 when school gets out.

I am hoping to get 3 or 4 volunteers to walk with our class and me to help keep track of everyone. We would need you on Friday from 1:00-2:30. If you could be there a few minutes early, that would be great!

Please let me know if this is something you are interested in or are available for.

Thank you for all you do and for the wonderful kids you are raising!

Thanks,

Mrs. Call

Think Central Passwords (For Online Books)

I put the links to the two online text books on the right hand side of this blog. However, each student has a password they will need if they want to access these books. That being said, I have just printed out the usernames and passwords and I will give each student their password on Monday. Starting then, you can use the online version of the text books!

Awesome Students!

I just have to say, I have some AWESOME students! Our class did so well on our IRI test today. (The IRI is just a short, timed, reading fluency test.) They did great!

Here is what we did in class today, and the assignments that were given. Hopefully everyone got their assignment tracker filled out and hopefully everyone checked off the ones they finished:

Math: Lesson 4 (star problems only) page 26-28
Reading: Read 30 minutes
Language: Practice book page 9 (we did an activity in class to cover this concept instead of a worksheet. all students should have this checked off.
Science: Earth's Layers Drawing (We will work on this more on Monday, but I told them to put a check in the box because they don't have anything for homework here.)
Spelling: Spelling words 2x (also do the back side of this sheet)

Thanks so much to everyone who made it out to back to school night! I appreciate all of you for being such amazing parents. I hope to get those blog updates on here that I promised as soon as possible. Have a fun safe weekend!

Crazy Day!

With today being PE day, picture day, and back-to-school night (setting up chairs), we had a little bit of a crazy day in class. We didn't have very much time at all in class to work on our math lesson/assignment. If there are things on the math assignment that are confusing or that we did not go over very well in class, we will work on those particular problems more in class tomorrow morning.

Here are the assignments that were given in class today:

  1. Math: Lesson 3 - Sequences and digits. Due 9/5
  2. Reading: read for 30 minutes tonight. Due 9/5
  3. Language: Sentence fluency on practice book page 11. Due 9/5 (most students finished this in class.)
  4. Spelling: write spelling words 2 times. Due 9/8
Remember, homework should not take more than an hour each night. Please let me know if it takes longer so that I might have the opportunity to adjust the assignment length.

I hope you all are having an excellent day!
